           Village Threads

 Promoting dignity, health, and opportunity

Our Story

Village Threads began with a simple realization.

While traveling in Africa, we met remarkable young women whose education and confidence were being limited by something that had a practical solution. What began as concern soon became a calling.

Today, hundreds of volunteers are helping restore dignity, expand opportunity, and provide hope through reusable menstrual hygiene kits and reproductive health education.

Every journey has a beginning.

Our Mission

Village Threads is a grassroots humanitarian initiative dedicated to supporting young African women through sustainable menstrual hygiene solutions and reproductive education. Through volunteer-driven efforts, we fabricate and distribute reusable menstrual kits while providing practical, respectful education that helps girls understand their bodies, manage their health, and eliminate fear, shame, and uncertainty surrounding their menstrual cycles. Our mission is to ensure that young women are not limited by lack of resources or knowledge—allowing them to attend school with confidence, participate fully in daily life, and pursue their greatest potential. We believe that dignity, knowledge, and support foster self-worth—and that empowered young women become confident individuals, strong contributors to their communities, and future leaders.

What We Do

Each Village Threads kit is thoughtfully designed to provide a reliable, reusable hygiene solution using quality materials and proven construction methods.

Each distribution is paired with reproductive and menstrual health education, presented in a respectful and culturally aware environment that encourages understanding, open discussion, and confidence.

These sessions are designed to eliminate stigma and embarrassment, empower young women to manage their health, and support their ability to remain in school and engaged in their communities.

Our Commitment to Stewardship & Transparency

No administrative salaries or overhead costs are included in our funding needs. All organizational coordination, travel, and personal expenses are privately supported by the founders.

This structure ensures that 100% of contributions directly support program materials, delivery, and education—maximizing impact for the young women we serve.

Every partnership begins with listening.

Transforming lives.

Strengthening communities.

Village Threads began by listening.

Current Projects & Updates

2026 Mission Update

Village Threads continues to prepare for our 2026 humanitarian mission, where approximately 400 reusable menstrual hygiene kits—representing more than 10,000 individually prepared components—will be distributed together with reproductive health education for young women.

Following confirmation of the Ebola outbreak that emerged in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and spread into neighboring Uganda during mid-May 2026, Village Threads immediately revised our distribution plans to ensure the safety of both our volunteers and the communities we serve during our planned August mission.

We are deeply grateful to Blessman International, Inc., who generously offered to partner with Village Threads by providing in-country transportation, logistical coordination, and access to the communities they faithfully serve throughout Limpopo Province, South Africa. This new partnership allows our 2026 mission to move forward as planned while expanding the reach of Village Threads into another region of Africa.

Although our destination has changed, our mission remains exactly the same—to restore dignity, provide education, and create opportunities for young women to remain in school with confidence and hope.

Looking Ahead

As Village Threads grows, we are continuing to listen, learn, and explore future opportunities to serve young women in additional South African communities.

During our travels, we plan to meet with local midwives and community leaders in the Isithumba Valley region of KwaZulu-Natal. This rural Zulu community offers an important opportunity to better understand village life, family structures, health education needs, and the role local women play in supporting girls as they mature. These conversations will help Village Threads evaluate whether future menstrual hygiene education and kit distribution efforts could be developed in ways that are culturally respectful, locally guided, and genuinely useful.

We will also visit Capricorn Primary School in Vrygrond, Cape Town, where school administrators and community partners are working in a setting shaped by significant social and economic challenges. Our goal is to listen carefully, understand the needs of the school community, and explore whether Village Threads can support future efforts that help girls remain in school with dignity, confidence, and practical resources.

These meetings are not formal commitments. They are the beginning of relationships.

Village Threads began by listening, and we believe future partnerships should begin the same way.
